Most of the time, people want to do work with someone who not only can do the work but from someone who is skilled and can offer suggestions to others.
You can easily be viewed and treated as an expert when you’re helping others, offering your assistance, giving suggestions and even providing resources. And we all want to work with an expert!
Someone with expertise ensures that the job will be done correctly and with the utmost professionalism and efficiency. This can be a leverage for you to make more income. Rates for services increase as you gain more experience and expertise on something. Some clients do not mind paying higher rates for services or products if they are sure it will do a good job.
If you position yourself as an expert or mentor, not only will you have others recognizing what you have to offer, but you will also have outsiders observing the things that you are teaching and providing to others.
How can you do this?
- Optimize your social media as a way to present information. Give tips, facts and advice in posts or in comments. In groups, people often ask for advice, be free to offer that to someone. Give a little and gain a lot.
- If you have a website or blog, create posts that inform and educate. Let your readers know that you know what you’re talking about! Offer resources and links of resources you may use in your business.
- Don’t be stingy with your assistance. The Bible tells us there is more happiness in giving than in receiving. Always be willing to give. Remember that at one point you started in the beginning, as a brand new business owner. You went through the same struggles many are going through today. Make sure to offer them the same help that either you received or wished you had.
In what areas do you believe that you are an expert in ? Or could be perceived as an expert if you shared with others what you know?
